Space and drone-based Earth observation, way to experimentation in Bari and Turin
The Sapere project involves the Technological Aerospace Cluster (DTA), Planetek and Leonardo Italia, University of Bari and CNR. The aim of the project is to define and develop innovative solutions enabling a more powerful exploitation of images of the territory collected via satellite and / or by sensors transported on remotely piloted aircraft, with the objective to elicit information on the territory itself. The project develops also system to process and distribute images for carrying out the metropolitan area planning and management process for the municipal administrations. The project involves the creation of 4 image analysis applications:
- Application of prototype software for monitoring the stability of
infrastructures and specifically the water network; - Prototype software application for monitoring the quality of water and
discharges to the sea; - Prototype software application for monitoring soil sealing;
- Prototype software application for thermal micro-zoning;
The project will also diffuse knowledge about U-Space services and drone Earth Observation and inspection capacity and opportunities for the wide community of urban drone operators (from local police to professionals). The objective of this project line is to promote the safe and secure exploitation of drone into urban environment.
