The Puglia Region intensifies its policies in favor of aerospace, the leading sector of its economy, by participating with a delegation of eight small and medium-sized companies and innovative startups from Puglia, Aeroporti di Puglia and the Aerospace Technological District at Farnborough International Airshow 2022, scheduled in Farnborough , in the United Kingdom, from 18 to 22 July 2022. It is the most important exhibition dedicated to aerospace, a leading showcase for the presentation of cutting-edge solutions and equipment in the aeronautics and space sectors. An appointment that the Puglia Region has never missed in the last 15 years. Participation in the 2022 edition is organized by the Section for the Promotion of Trade, Crafts and Internationalization of Enterprises with Puglia Sviluppo. A double mission, entrepreneurial and institutional, is planned, during which an important agreement for research programs will be signed and the innovations that will characterize the Apulian aerospace in the coming years will be announced also from a production point of view.
Head of the delegation is the Regional Councilor for Economic Development Alessandro Delli Noci, who explains: “The United Kingdom is a very important partner for Puglia, especially in the aerospace sector. In 2021 it is the second for exports (after the United States) and the third for imports (after the United States and Germany). The export value exceeded the sum of 55.8 million euros in 2021, up by 111.5% compared to the previous year. But the Farnborough Airshow is not only a window on an important market, it is the aerospace event par excellence in which news is announced and the future scenarios of world aerospace, but also national and regional, are realized. For Puglia it is a fundamental event for attracting sector investments. During the mission I will meet, among others, the president of ENAC, the National Agency for Civil Aviation, the president of ASI, the Italian Space Agency, and the top management of Avio Aero, I will sign an important collaboration agreement with ASI and I will announce, with Enac, Aeroporti di Puglia and the Aerospace Technological District, the next joint initiatives so that Puglia continues to be a leading region in the development of aerospace at national and international level, both in terms of research that of sector productions. For the companies in the delegation it will be a significant opportunity for promotion, which will open up new orders and collaborations with international partners “.
To get an idea of the relevance of the Farnborough International Airshow (Fia), just think that in 2018, the last physical edition of the event (which is biennial) before the pandemic, there were 1,500 exhibitors from 48 countries who presented the their products and services to 80 thousand visitors coming in turn from 112 countries.
Also this year, in addition to the pavilions, an outdoor area has been set up for the exhibition of new generation civil and military aircraft and numerous demonstration flights are organized. The exhibition is also accompanied by a rich program of meetings including the networking initiative, “Business Connection Exchange”, scheduled from 19 to 21 July 2022, which will be attended by all the companies of the Apulian delegation. Finally, there are “thematic areas” in which the latest trends and opportunities in certain sectors can be explored. These include the Space Zone and the Research & Development Zone, dedicated respectively to space and to research and development in the aerospace sector.
