Objectives
The AD-ASTRA (Aerospace Districts: Acceleration of the Strategic Transfer of Regional Advancements) project aims to link aerospace innovation ecosystems for strategic advancement.
“Diversity creates wealth”: Working with partners from different sectors of the quadruple helix of these diverse regions can create a growth opportunity. We can take advantage of complementary skills, experience and territorial and industrial vocations by establishing a solid and lasting cooperation network within the EU. This will create ‘critical mass’ in key EU sectors such as innovation and aerospace, which are highly competitive and require innovative models and approaches to stay ahead of the competition.
Activities and results
To achieve our ambitious goal, we will follow an iterative process involving:
- Collecting, analysing and organising the experiences (such as competences, technologies and networks) of the partner regions regarding their aerospace districts;
- Analysing how the ecosystems will evolve in response to technological, economic, political and social trends;
- Validate or correct hypotheses and models with the help of stakeholders;
- Develop an action plan to improve each regional aerospace ecosystem by evaluating best practices from other regions and strengthening knowledge transfer and innovation between industrial sectors and territories.
Benefits
The project aims to create a cohesive ecosystem between 5 EU regions (Toulouse, South Holland, Madrid, Puglia, Emilia-Romagna) that share a common interest in promoting the aerospace sector. The project aims to improve
- the cross-links between aerospace and other innovative industries (such as automotive, biomedical, agri-food and big data)
- taking into account the different levels of innovation maturity
- the level of consolidation within each region’s aerospace district.
