sTrengthening disastER Response capacIties ThrOugh dRone technology

The main activity of the project concerns the definition of an integrated monitoring architecture for the detection and management of risk in disaster events and for adaptation to climate change.  
 

Activities include: 

• Regional risk and capacity analysis: Study of historical disasters, involvement of local stakeholders and assessment of existing infrastructure for emergency management. 

• Design and development of the TERRITORY Drone Platform: Integrated architecture with drones, sensors and AI for real-time data collection and analysis. Includes a command and control center for mission planning. 

• Pilot demonstrations in real scenarios: Operational tests in selected areas (Taranto, Pescolanciano, Shkodra, Bar) for fires, floods, environmental monitoring and search and rescue. 

• Training and knowledge transfer: International seminars and local workshops to train operators and stakeholders on the use of drones and AI in emergency management. 

• Preparation of an Action Plan and Sustainability Strategy: Drafting of a joint plan for the adoption of the developed technologies and an exploitation plan to ensure their continued use. 

The project aims to achieve: 

• Improved disaster response capacity: Reduced response time and increased operational effectiveness through the use of drones and AI. 

• Growing territorial resilience: Strengthening local skills and infrastructure to address environmental and climate risks. 

• Cross-border cooperation: Harmonization of regulations and sharing of resources between Italy, Albania and Montenegro. 

• Awareness and public involvement: Dissemination events and information campaigns to promote a culture of prevention and innovation. 

• Scalability and replicability: Modular and open-source solutions that can be adapted to other territories and contexts.
